Our Facilities & Equipment

The Sylvan Adams Sports Institute offers athletes and coaches some of the most advanced technology in the world in order to analyze and improve their performance. As the Institute is close to the Tel Aviv University Sports Center, we have an even greater range of options when it comes to combining outdoor testing with training and lab work.

Our labs are operated by academics who are leaders in their respective fields and are actively involved in both hands-on testing and complex theoretical work. Our staff are experts in a diverse range of sports and are committed to providing test results that can be implemented in concrete ways to improve athletic performance.

In addition to this, we rely on a set of unique, advanced tools to measure athletes. Here are some of the sophisticated machines we will make use of to test and improve the way your body performs:

3D Gait analysis

3D Gait analysis

This treadmill is fully sensorized with a force plate and pressure sensors, which allows us to measure running biomechanics, running economy and conduct pre- and post-injury assessments.

Saturn 300/100 High Performance

This “heavy duty” Saturn treadmill can let you reach a speed of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) and can help short-distance sprinters, cyclists, and Paralympic hand cyclists, as well as other kinds of athletes.

SRM Stationary Bike

The SRM ergometer is one of the world’s leading adjustable ergometer systems for professional cyclists, allowing the adjustment of saddle, handlebars, and crank length and providing accurate measurements of power (watts), cadence, and torque. It has a large flywheel mass which enables the simulation of the kinetic energy of riding on the road.

The SRM has two main working modes: Hyperbolic mode, which allows ramp test to determine the cyclist’s own optimum and individual cadence (keeping the power constant over a longer period of time), and Isokinetic mode, which allows us to measure maximum power and physical condition with a constant cadence.

Elite Endless swim flume

Elite Endless swim flume

The Elite Endless swim flume allows a swimming speed of up to 41sec/100 meter. We offer multiple underwater and above water cameras (SwimPro) and a mirror at the bottom of the pool for optimal and immediate feedback.

We also provide a 16 channels Wave Pulse which is waterproof, and wireless EMG (electro myograph) for neuro-muscular measurements during testing and training, as well as for fatigue analysis, injury prevention, and more.

Additionally, we offer physiological measurements of gas exchange (VO2, VCO2, VE, HR, etc) and blood lactate tracking during incremental increase of effort, all-out testing or during a constant pace.

SwimPro cameras

allow to record swimming movement and biomechanics for in-door lab testing or out-door open pool training and testing.

Medical Body Composition Analyzer (mBCA)

The BCA data is processed using six analytical modules which break down weight into body measurements such as: Fat Mass, Fat-Free Mass, Body Water, and Skeletal Muscle Mass.

Optogait

Optogait

Optogait is a movement analysis system that allows accurate detection of space and time parameters for gait and running measurements. Combining video acquisition allows detection of problems related to mechanical inefficiencies, asymmetries, and injury prevention, both in the lab and in the field (Optogait is a mobile system).
